1879 receives national award

1879 Events wins award at Stadium Events & Hospitality Awards 2015.

1879 Events Management, the events arm of Sunderland AFC, was given silver in the Operations Team of the Year category at the Stadium Events & Hospitality Awards 2015.

The awards recognise the efforts and dedication shown by the catering, conference and events teams at football and rugby stadiums across the UK.

The company impressed the judging panel with its ability to cater for a wide range of audiences at events of any scale.

Gary Hutchinson, Commercial Director for 1879 Events Management, said: “Since its launch in 2012, 1879 Events Management has helped the Stadium of Light evolve from a sporting arena to an award-winning venue that offers the perfect combination of superb facilities, first-class service and top flight football.

“We’re thrilled that these efforts have now been recognised nationally at the Stadium Events & Hospitality Awards and look forward to continuing this success throughout 2015 and beyond.”

Events they have delivered include: business dinners, award ceremonies and project launches, with more than 1000 events taking place at the stadium in 2014 alone.

The firm’s wide range of hospitality packages, delivered at football fixtures and an array of specialist events, including high profile concerts, was also instrumental in the team’s success.

Efforts are now being made to build on this award-winning status and boost bookings at the Stadium of Light for the rest of 2015.

This includes the introduction of a new range of special offers, such as free room hire for events involving 50 people or more and daily delegate rates starting from the reduced cost of £28 per person.
